![]() FAKE Transformers Encore 12 Reissue Metroplex Mini-Review: ![]() *Update December 21, 2008; I just found out that this Encore Metroplex that I have is a knock-off. Please read this article! I got the original G1 Metroplex when I was a kid and it has been damaged over the years. Since I was so impressed with the Encore Omega Supreme reissue; I decided to get this new reissued Metroplex to replace my old one (I got it on sale for $60 + shipping from an online retailer). Aside from the materials issues, everything else about this toy seems to be in keeping with the original. There was an upgrade done to the tiny tank that was included so that its turret can be used as a building tower for Metroplex's city mode (it's a pretty cool gimmick). As bargains went, there were few transformers that had so much fun and adaptability as Metroplex. In city mold, he can hold a ton of Mini-Bots. There are lots of gimmicks such as a flip-out missile bay and a slide out road/ramp that reveals a garage. He's got a landing pad for a small helicopter Transformer as well as docks for small cars. In rolling fortress mode, Metroplex can be used by small jets as a runway. He has docking sockets on his legs and arms to fit small gestalt Transformers onto in robot mode, and he connects to gestalt leaders that expands his city mode. His guns along with some of the city's structures combine to form a robot, and he also comes with a small black car that transforms to a robot. The only thing that limited Metroplex's applications was his size; for a city-class bot he's less than half the size of Fortress Maximus and even smaller than many larger Transformers. He was only good to host the basic sized Transformers. If you already have a decent G1 Metroplex with all his parts then I would suggest that you skip getting this Encore version. But if you have a crappy one with missing parts or if you don't have him, then this toy is a must have. If the materials used weren't so cheap looking, I would have given this toy an awesome rating; instead I give it an *But now that I know it's a fake; it gets a 3/10 and a P.O.S. award! *Update - January 23, 2009: I just received the real Encore Metroplex; here's the review. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
